Society Club
12 Ingestre Place Soho London W1F 0JF
Booksellers, gallery owners, toast makers and cake bakers, Society Club owners Robert Pereno and his wife Babette are proud flag-wavers for Soho’s free-spirited heritage – in the words of their sign, they set out to offer ‘the best of all possible things’. You’re sure of a warm welcome at their delightfully eccentric backstreet premises, whether you’ve come to browse the books, admire the latest show of prints or photos, or take a seat at the long, sociable central table and unwind over a mug of hot chocolate and a homemade cookie. As well as hosting book and CD launch parties, the club puts on a consistently stimulating programme of events in nearby venues like the Sanctum Hotel and the Sun & 13 Cantons pub, such as silent movie nights, re-enactments of Keith Richards’ 1960s drugs trial, or talks on the Windmill Theatre’s racy past.
