Sole Bay Inn
7 East Green Southwold IP128 6JN
Based opposite the brewery, this corner boozer has to be Adnams pub, and it's a bright and welcoming one too, with a stripped-down interior that’s the result of a recent re-furb that has remodelled the interior but left the outside more or less untouched. Right by the Southwold lighthouse and seconds from the beach, it gets its fair share of tourists, but is popular with locals as well, and serves pub food, with most mains – chicken curry, minute steak, fishcakes, lamb chops – of a decent quality and served in generous portions. It can get very busy on summer lunchtimes – get there early to be sure of getting a table – but to be honest it's a good place to eat in the evening too. Dog-friendly as well.
