With its series of Edwardian half-timber gables, this is a lovely seafront hotel, old-fashioned but briskly and efficiently maintained and run, with elegant public areas and 35 lovely rooms, the best of which overlook the boats and fish huts on the beach, though there are a handful in the annexe across the street, which are larger and more peaceful on the whole. The welcome is professional rather than warm, but the levels of service here are pretty high, with many of the rooms recently updated and lovely big, well-equipped bathrooms. There is free wifi throughout, and a decent if unadventurous restaurant at the front overlooking the sea. There's nothing very contemporary about the Wentworth, if we're honest, but that's exactly the point, providing its mainly middle-aged guests with a bubble of traditional comfort that nails the traditional British seaside hotel experience perfectly.
