If you're planning a break in Norfolk with friends or family and would like to stay in an environmentally-conscious property, Garden House should be a contender. The contemporary eco-barn sleeps six across three bedrooms, and should you need more space, you can combine it with Avocet next door to form larger accommodation for up to 12 people, as well as two cots.

Garden House is located in Cranmer, about a quarter of an hour from the coast and 10 minutes south of picturesque Burnham Market. Inside, it's chic all the way, with solid travertine flooring throughout and an open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner bathed in natural light, thanks to large patio doors and skylights. At the same time, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, complete with patterned rugs and cushions and comfy sofas – relax in one while taking in the capacious furnished terrace and garden beyond. On balmy days, adults can eat al-fresco, and children can check out the neighbouring enclosed play area.

Head back indoors and choose your bedroom: the stylish ground-floor master has an en-suite shower room and patio doors leading directly onto the terrace, and upstairs, discover a king with space for a cot, plus a twin; you'll also find a modern family bathroom with a shower and bath. In terms of green credentials, the holiday home is highly insulated and has eco-friendly underfloor heating. Additionally, hot water and space heating are supplemented by solar, wind power and a ground source heat pump.

Blending seamlessly into the rural setting, Garden House is one of 11 eco properties on the overall plot. Guests can enjoy fabulous shared on-site amenities ranging from an indoor heated pool and tennis courts to a games room and well-kept gardens. There's plenty to keep you occupied, but should you want to explore, Wells-next-the-Sea is 15 minutes away by car, where you can pick up the Norfolk Coast Path or wander to Holkham Beach for a laze and a swim.
