It's one of no less than a dozen or so Suffolk winemakers, but Valley Farm Vineyards is unusual in that you can not only stay there overnight, but the accommodation is situated right amongst the vines. The first vines were planted here a generation ago, but owners Elaine and Vanessa took over around five years ago when they moved here. They have transformed the place, not only adding a a tasting barn but also offering self-guided tours and tutored tours (the latter for groups), as well as their recent brainwave, the rather wonderful Cabin-in-the-VInes, which you don't have to be a wine-lover to enjoy – just happy to be the only one spending the night bang in the middle of a Suffolk vineyard!

A well-appointed and very spacious wooden cabin, insulated with sheeps' wool and powered by solar power and state-of-the-art batteries, it's the perfect off-grid place for two eco-friendly folk to get away from it all, with a large living area,  a bedroom with a double bed with a high-end mattress and bed linen and wooden floors throughout. There's a separate bathroom with shower, toilet and sink, towels and toiletries, and it even has its own fully equipped kitchen complete with hob, oven, fridge and everything else you might need,  There is heat, light and hot water, dogs are welcome, and the location is so tucked away and gorgeous you might not want to leave, indeed its outside porch is about as perfect place to enjoy a summer evening with a glass of wine as you'll find – plus there's no wifi, making it an easy place to switch off from the world outside.

It's nice to know also that you have the run of the vineyard when you choose, with a complimentary self-guided tour and tasting included in your stay; and there's even a bottle of wine waiting for you when you arrive, made using the vines that surround your cosy cabin (and accompanied by other essentials, such as tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk).

Finally, the location couldn't be better, with a couple of pubs within walking distance (which naturally serve Elaine and Vanessa's wine along with decent food). Nearby Halesworth is an appealing small town, increasingly popular with London escapees, and it's good to know that you are right on the Sustrans cycle route 1 as well as footpaths leading off in all directions, as far as the nearby Suffolk Coast AONB. Finally there are the wines, which vary from their Sundancer sparkling to their very drinkable View East rose to a couple of lovely whites made with Pinot Gris and Madeline Angevine grapes.  Pour yourself a glass, put your feet up and close your eyes... you could be in Burgundy!

Fantastic getaway!

The cabin was very cosy and had everything needed for a lovely weekend away, everything inside seemed new and spotlessly clean. We really enjoyed the tour with Adrian, and enjoyed tasting the wine! Even the rain couldn't spoil our trip, I'd highly recommend. There are two lovely pubs in walking distance, and I would especially recommend the wisset plough.

A gorgeous & unique break!

We booked the cabin as a couple for a birthday and it exceeded all our expectations! We arrived Friday afternoon and it was easy to find, and easy to get into. The cabin was clean and spacious with good cooking facilities so we could enjoy cooked breakfasts and dinners on the veranda over looking the vineyard! There is only one cabin on the vineyard, right amongst the vines, making the cabin extremely private and quiet. On Saturday we met Elaine and Vanessa, the owners of the Vineyard who showed us how to prune the vines (our visit was in March). We learnt so much about the vineyard and got lots of fresh air- We even brought some gardening tips home! On Sunday we did the self guided tour around the vineyard which takes approx 1 hour. Again interesting and nice to do it at our own pace. After this Elaine and Vanessa talked us through the wines and we got to taste one of them. We also got to taste another of their wines that was left for us in the cabin on our arrival! The wine was beautiful and we got to enjoy it in the sunshine. We really enjoyed it and loved it so much we bought a case of wine to take home! Elaine and Vanessa were lovely and very helpful when needed but left you to your privacy otherwise. We have recommend to all friends and family and would recommend to any couples looking for an escape from the world! We will definitely be back to see the vines in the summer and stock up on the wine (running out very quickly)! Steph & Dan
