The Mariners Rock
Rock Wadebridge Cornwall PL27 6LD
Now that Cornwall’s celeb chefs Nathan Outlaw and Paul Ripley have teamed up with Sharp’s Brewery and taken over this superb seafront setting, you can expect great things from the bar and the kitchen. What better way to spend a summer afternoon than watching the boats go by from the waterside terrace, while downing pints of Sharp’s new Atlantic Pale Ale alongside Porthilly oysters, lobster, mussels and just-landed fish? Make a day of it by arriving on the Black Tor ferry from Padstow and take a stroll along the coast path to Daymer Bay and the wonky-steepled St Enodoc church. Being a modern sort of place, the ambience in The Mariners Rock is far from that of a traditional boozer, but leather sofas, a fireplace and a stone bar attempt to give it a more authentic feel and will no doubt warm the cockles on a winter’s day.
