Bella, Bugsie and the kids left London two years ago to set up their perfect glamping location, and their beautiful site, Longlands, is the result. They had some very specific requirements when searching for their ideal location: they wanted it to be conveniently close to the sea (to be able to sneak in a lunchtime surf), have breathtaking views and plenty of space to create the ultimate rural retreat. And this delightful destination on the western border of Exmoor, five minutes from the coastal village of Combe Martin, pretty much ticks all the boxes. They've recently won their sixth Gold award at the SouthWest Tourism Awards for 'Best Glamping site in the SouthWest'!
Five thoughtfully positioned safari tents (each sleeping six) come furnished with vintage leather sofas, luxurious linen and a blanket box filled with family-friendly games. At the heart of each identical lodge is a fully-equipped kitchen with a wood-burning stove, keeping the cosy interior warm in all weathers whilst also providing a means of cooking. Not only that, each country-inspired abode has its very own shower room (and separate en-suite), with flushing loo and basin, plus a wide range of natural aromatherapy products.
After spending a memorable day exploring North Devon and its many delights (Exmoor in one direction, and the fabulous beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde in the other), Longlands is a comforting enclave to return to each night. Bella and Bugsie have done their hosting homework, pre-empting every need with the ‘Longlands Larder’, stocked with hard-to-resist, local produce (milk, jam, chutney and cheese) 24 hours a day. Guests can also dine on their private barbecue, overlooking the sheltered valley and rolling hills all the way to the sea. They also have a beautiful hot tub on its own terrace, with its own changing room and outdoor shower, and with views out across the valley and towards the sea and setting sun. Allow your days to float by effortlessly, whilst enjoying the simplicity of field living – albeit in a luxury canvas lodge.

Location
Getting There
From Junction 27 of the M5: follow the A361 (towards Barnstable), continue over next 2 roundabouts, staying on A361. At the fourth roundabout (Aller Dean) take third exit onto the A399 to Combe Martin. Turn right off the A399 (to Trentishoe and Hunters Inn) and continue past this turning and Moorish Farm Shop on the right. Go slowly as Longlands is the very next right, after the large white road sign on the left, around the blind corner, opposite a converted chapel. If you pass left hand turnings to Barnstaple and Woolacombe, you have just gone past. If in doubt call Bella (07798 526133) or Pam (07786 413316).
The nearest train station is Barnstaple (12 miles), however train routes and connections often make Tiverton Parkway a more convenient station, even though its 40 miles away. If coming from Barnstaple, the Filers 309 Bus stops at Easter Close Cross, practically at the end of the drive. If coming from Tiverton, Andy's Cabs (07920 032293), based in Combe Martin can take you. For parties of more than 10, you’re best booking a mini bus from Mark Booker (01271 883711).
