Honest Burgers
Unit 34A 54–56 Camden Lock Place London NW1 8AF
With established restaurants in Brixton, Soho, King's Cross and Portobello, Honest burgers definitely seem to be taking over London by storm. The no-fuss, blink-and-you-might-walk-past-it Camden offshoot, is cleverly tucked away from the outdoor market madness, inside the food mall of the Camden Lock Market, amongst some pretty stiff competition. But, as its name proclaims, its honest, no-frills appearance, open kitchen and large mouth-watering blackboard menu leave no room for objections. Choose from proper meaty British patties – made from rare breed aged beef from the Ginger Pig Farm – on a toasted glazed bun, served with triple cooked chips coated in Rosemary salt with a variety of homemade relishes. If you're going to try any of their burgers, then let it be the signature Honest: red onion relish, mature cheddar cheese and crunchy cured bacon. Simple but great. Once you're an Honest expert, you can go for the daring bone marrow burger, or the Brewburger – 5am Saint Candied bacon, Comté cheese, Punk IPA and beef dripping onions, Paradox BBQ sauce and cucumber relish. The sides are equally as bodacious, including the ridiculously scrummy cauliflower and sweetcorn fritters. So what's the verdict? Honestly? Their reputation doesn't lie.
