Drive through Norfolk and you'll quickly come to recognise the trademark flint cottages that are the staple of these old rural settlements. Tucked away in East Runton, the charming hideaway of The Brambles is no different, though, inside the traditional home, modern features and stylish decor give it a luxurious edge that make it one of the nicest self-catered properties around. One of a group of three self-catering properties in East Runton owned by Nick and Barbara Davies – the others are Stable Cottage and Incleborough House – this charming seaside bolt hole has three thoughtfully furnished bedrooms – two doubles, one twin – and a small extra bedroom-cum-study. While the master bedroom boasts a modern en-suite shower room, the luxuries of the main family bathroom are better still, with a deep bath, power shower and a TV embedded in the wall opposite the tub. Such lavishness continues through the rest of the property with a touch screen computer in the main living space and Wifi access in every room. Step outside into the small but pretty garden, and you'll find a hot tub, gas barbecue and terrace space, ideal for an evening meal in the summer sun. Ample parking allows you to take a car and zip around the rest of the North Norfolk Coast, but the pleasant beach of East Runton, just a short walk away, is an easy way to ditch the car and have a journey free day for a change. At its eastern end the beach joins onto the busier Cromer seafront, while west the town of Sheringham is also close at hand.
