Griffin Lodge
East Anglia Suffolk Halesworth
- From £500 a night
- Sleeps up to 11
- Cottage
Tucked away deep in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, Griffin Lodge is a high-end country house that feels like home you moment you walk in. Easy to reach from London, yet remote enough to really get away from it all, it has everything need for a proper escape to the country – five very comfortable en-suite bedrooms, a series of homely yet stylish interiors and all the amenities we all wish we had in our own homes, including a thoroughly indulgent hot tub!
However, perhaps Griffin Lodge's best asset is its location – just a few miles from the glorious Suffolk Coast at Southwold and close to funky local market towns like Halesworth and Bungay, where cool indy shops and enticing pubs and restaurants await. Inside the house, country chic meets contemporary style, with painted beams, a fabulous open-plan sitting room-kitchen-diner complete with mid-century furnishings and an open fire, groaning bookcases and comfy sofas to loll about in. There is also a Smart TV with Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV accounts to enjoy.
Upstairs, two of the bedrooms have super-king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, while two others are king-size, plus there's a kids room with bunks and a pullout bed that can sleep up to 3 children. There are French windows opening out onto the patio where there's seating and a barbecue, as well as a tempting hot tub tucked away in a corner of the garden – not to mention plenty of space for kids to run around in.
Griffin Lodge's other unique selling-points are the extras you can add to your stay if you're feeling particularly self-indulgent. Can't be bothered to cook? They have a chef that can come and cook for you or just drop off meals at your door. You can also order a breakfast hamper for when you arrive – or even every morning if you prefer! Trying to relax? Book a massage or get your nails done with a local therapist who will visit the house. Or, if all that sounds like too much effort, just curl up in front of the fire with a good book or gaze at the stars from the comfort of your very own hot tub.
