Hoveton Hall B&B
East Anglia Norfolk Wroxham & Hoveton
- 2 Guest Rooms
- Boutique B&B
Located just to the north of the adjoining riverside villages of Hoveton and Wroxham, the Hoveton Hall estate is a little gem right in the heart of the Broads National Park – over 600 acres of parkland, gardens, woods and grazing land with a handsome Regency country house at its heart. The home of the Buxton family for several generations, the latest incumbents – Rachel and Harry – moved in a decade ago. They not only open the estate's sumptuous gardens during the summer months, but also welcome overnight guests too in their two boutique B&B suites.
Situated at the end of Hoveton Hall's long drive, this will probably feel like the poshest B&B you have ever stayed at on arrival. Harry or Rachel will be there to meet you at the door, before showing you to one of the B&Bs two guest rooms – either the spacious South West Room, with its king-size carved wooden bed and huge bathroom (with bath and shower) or the Buxton Suite, which has a lovely king-size sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom. Both rooms come with good WiFi, Freeview TVs, coffee- and tea-making facilities (with fresh milk), while the bathrooms have toiletries, robes and fluffy towels. You can enjoy breakfast in the library, boasting lovely views over the grounds. Families are welcome too – the hall is basically a family home with plenty of room to roam for kids around the grounds and gardens.
Hoveton Hall's gardens are open from April to September and provide a wonderful display during these months, plus the hall is walking distance from the shops, restaurants and boatyards of Wroxham – 'The Gateway to The Broads'. There's lots to do nearby, and most things are within walking distance so you don't have to get in the car, indeed there is a station in Wroxham so you don't even have to bring the car at all! Children will enjoy the forest theme park of Bewilderwood, the shops, mini golf and family farm at Wroxham Barns and the Bure Valley Railway, which runs from Hoveton to the pleasant town of Aylsham. A foot- and cycle-path follows the same route, and you spend a very happy few days renting a bike and exploring both this and the other lanes and byways, taking in waterside villages like Horning (where there is a terrific fish restaurant), Salhouse (where you can canoe or swim on its broad) or Ranworth, which has a good pub and magnificent views of the Broads from the tower of its medieval church.
