In Gurnard Marsh, about three kilometres west of Cowes, this is a fabulous place to stay, in one of three rooms that are just a stone's throw from the sea. If you can, bag the top room at the front, which has its own balcony, though the view from the other top room is not bad, either. The downstairs room is the least expensive, and what you lack in views you make up for with plenty of space and modern decor. The Little Gloster is right on the coast path and there are some lovely walks heading west, and although you'd be best off having a car to explore the island from here, keen walkers may not need one. Plus the building houses a great restaurant, so there's good food to greet you when you get home.
