Billed as a modern B&B on a traditional London street, Russell’s is an elegant and interesting option if you want a bed for the night in East London. Based on similar B&Bs in Brooklyn and Berlin, it aims to steer visitors away from a fusty image of the capital, and offer them a stylish option in a real home, with plenty of advice on great things to see and do nearby. Clapton isn’t perhaps the most obvious part of London in which to stay. But hey, it’s handy for the Olympic Park; and with modern art on the walls, Welsh blankets on the beds and simple but beautiful antiques in the five rooms, it’s a world away from a chain hotel. Plus there’s a very handsome pet whippet...

Home from home

I am a regular visitor to London for work, and stop at Russell's whenever possible. It has a friendly home from home vibe. I never feel like I am stopping in a hotel. The beds are very comfy, the breakfast is superb (especially the sausages!!) and Annette is the perfect host. I always look forward to my stays, and hope to have many more visits in the future.
