A stylish, hip, and dog-friendly hote,l The Laslett, made up of five Regency townhouses located in the heart of Notting Hill, is somewhat hiidden away yet just steps away from the hustle and bustle of shops, restaurants and market of Portobello Road. Named after Rhaune Laslett, the founder of the Notting Hill Carnival, it's a thoroughly comfortable and very cool place to stay. Part of the of Living Rooms group, which has several hotels all over the part of town, like its sister hotels it's both homely and stylish all at the same time – special enough to feel you're staying somewhere nice, but comfy enough to make you feel right at home, with pictures, photographs and sculptures by local British artists everywhere and old Penguin paperback books adding to the home-from-home vibe.
The hotel has 51 spacious bedrooms, including 8 suites, so just about qualified for 'boutique' status, by London standards at least. Decorated in shades of grey and white, they all have en-suite bathrooms with baths with overhead showers, except for 3 of the suites which have a walk-in shower and separate bat, plus robes and slippers and Ren toiletries. Some rooms have balconies with wrought iron railings, while suites have a couch that can convert to a sofa-bed. Every room has good wifi, a flatscreen TV, tea- and coffee-making facilities (including a Nespresso machine in the top two room categories) and dogs are thoroughly pampered with water bowls, dog treats and beds available on request.
The food they serve at the Laslett is classical with a twist, using local and British ingredients. Guests can eat in the small dining area or funky library as well as the outdoor terrace where brunch is served at the weekend. On Sunday there is also live music. The bar, a main feature of the hotel, has a jar of dog-biscuits on the counter. Based at the hotel, the Recharge Room offers state-of-the art innovative beauty and wellness treatments. T
