Polzeath Beach House sits on Atlantic Terrace. The name and address alone should give you enough information to whet the appetite for seaside stays on the North Cornish Coast. We should mention upfront that the well-appointed rooms at this boutique hotel are inland facing (if that's important to you try the attached seaview apartments), but you’ll soon realise that’s little matter at this superbly situated coastal hotel. Downstairs, a residents’ lounge, bar, restaurant and terrace, offer a panorama for everyone to share: uninterrupted views of the surf with Polzeath’s golden sands just a few steps from the door.
After long days on the beach and sunset dinners on the terrace, the coastal themed rooms of Polzeath Beach House are just the place to rest your head. Wetsuits and sandy surfboards can be washed down and safely stowed in the hotel’s surf shack ready for another day on the beach and you can get on with the important business of relaxing in your room. There are 12 doubles here with high-end Hypnos beds, luxurious bedding and Smart TVs with movies to rent. Tea and coffee-making facilities include fresh milk and a coffee machine and bathrooms offer power showers.
Still, if you think you’ll be hankering for an Atlantic vista from your room, perhaps the Polzeath Beach House Apartments are where you should be headed. These two and three-bedroomed apartments occupy the front of the house, each with a floor-to-ceiling window and small balcony or terrace. If, however, you don’t fancy self-catering on your Cornish getaway, the hotel rooms are a perfect base. You can stay on a room-only basis, or you can add on breakfast and/or dinner in the Atlantic Bar and Kitchen. You're also just a 10 minutes wander across the sands to old Polzeath and its surfy cafe scene.
The South West Coast Path runs right past the door here and leads (if you’re up for a three-mile hike) to the little village of Rock from where you can get a ferry across the River Camel to Padstow. But, when you’re not walking or feasting on seafood, you’ll no doubt be in or by the water. Paddleboarding, surfing and morning yoga are all on offer from excellent local guides, Wavehunters, who’ll offer a discount to the lucky residents of Polzeath Beach House.
